Training in Tennessee ?

April 26, 2011

Well, we haven't heard from Elder Pearson this week. I am guessing they are doing training with the mission president. We are anxious to hear how Elder Galloway is doing -if he had to have surgery? if he had to go home for surgery? or what is happening?
It sounded like Elder Pearson and his new companion, Elder Lindner were getting along well. He did send another little message last week that he was stoked to be serving with Elder Lindner.
His exact words were, "Freakin love L-Bomb. The whole day yesterday we talked deep doctrine!”
Here's a pic he sent of he and Elder Lindner...

Other Fruits of his Labor - April 2011

So, a few weeks ago he mentioned he might be needing some new shoes....
But Missionary Mall was easy to work with and once Elder Pearson
emailed pictures...they said they would mail him a new pair out yesterday.
It's amazing how quickly he figured out how to email a pic when he needed to!!!

TKM 19, 2011 CRAZY STUFF!!

Driving in hailstorm...
Tracting with Elder Galloway
B baptism
Elder Galloway, G and Elder Pearson

As you can see, he was finally able to email some pics!!!

HEY-O! How is everyone doing back yonder? Hope everything is going great though! =D Life here in the mission is crazy and the best as always!

There is so much that has happened this week that I’m not exactly sure where to start.... This week we have had some really big tornado and lightning storms! Elder Galloway and I had an awesome adventure of driving through one of them! It was raining so much that there were rivers flowing on each side of the streets, and hail that was as big as GOLF BALLS!?!? I thought that I was in the wizard of Oz or something LoL. We had to check on some of the areas that were around us to make sure that they were ok. Some of the sisters in Greeneville had to spend the night in the bathtub in case the storm got any closer. All is well though.

throughout the week Elder Galloway and I had the chance to go and teach at Volunteer High School! One of the physiology teachers was having different preachers come in to share about their basic beliefs. For three days we got to go in, share our message for a while and then open it up to questions... He told us to make sure that we always start off by saying " Our Church believes..." Right before we answered a question just for legal reasons. ( I think the questions were my favorite) We were asked things like "Do you have to grow a beard to be in your church?" or "I heard that Mormons have to pray over their underwear to give it secret powers, is that true?" haha.. There were some serious questions too, but I liked those ones too.

After that we went to see and teach B B all this week.

Last week B had walked up to our mission leader and told him that she wanted to be baptized!!!! So we went over to see where she was at and what all we needed to teach her.

We started talking about the spirit, the role it has and if she had felt it before in her life? She wasn’t really sure if the spirit had ever really talked to her before. We talked about, how somewhere in her life, the spirit had taught her that Jesus was the Christ.

We talked about the feelings she had whenever she had learned about Christ in her life, and found some scriptures to help her recognize that that was the spirit. " B, why do you think God sends the spirit to us?" Maybe to help lead us or something? I’m not sure. "lets open up to Alma 5, and see why God sent the spirit to a man named "Alma" As we read that the spirit was sent to teach him the truth, she knew that that was how she would learn that all these things were true.

As we Got to the 1st vision, we asked "B, we like for you to close your eyes and imagine what happened to this young boy." We started to share the 1st vision. As we ended, we sat there in silence for a good 2 mins. B still had her eyes closed and was picturing it in her mind.. " B.. what feeling did you just feel?" we asked... " I felt a really warm feeling in my chest." B what do you think that is? " I think its the spirit" B, what do you think God is trying to tell you?... B looked down and started to think, she paused and looked up and said "its true.. ITS TRUE!" We asked her when she would like to be baptized and she said "This Saturday!"

On Saturday, B, and G were both baptized and confirmed members of the Church! It was such a good week full of blessings. The Lord wants his children to join his church. Moses 1:39- he really is closer to this work that we can ever know.

I Love you all and I've gotta head to an appointment but keep up the good work.

I Really hope to hear from you all soon! (this means you too!) ;-)

Ps Elder Galloway is in Knoxville. He tore his ACL while playing some basket ball. we drove up to Knoxville to get an MRI and found out it wasn't looking to good. We did an emergency transfer so that he could be closer to the Doctors and so now I'm serving with Elder Lindner. absolutely love this kid! Keep Elder Galloway in your prayers. LOVE YA!!!! HEY-O family! How are things going up yonder? ;) This has been a crazy week!!!
This week we had Transfers, Elder Jarman and I had some really cool lessons for his last day. We found out that my new companion was going to be Elder Doug Galloway. Elder Galloway is from Boise, Idaho! We have been out for about the same time. he was actually suppose to come out with my MTC group but he had an injury. It wasn't to far of a transfer for him either. He was serving down the street from me in the Kingsport ward haha.
I'm really excited to serve with him though, He is ready to go out and to work hard even though he's a little nervous to be a ZL.
On the way home from transfers, Our driver fell asleep at the wheel a couple times and we had to keep grabbing the wheel and yell "Bro Mills!!!" he would wake up and scream!!! .... It was an intense ride home, but we made it safely back haha,
When we got home we went up to see a family. J and V sat us down, opened their scriptures and wanted to show us all that they had learned! J tried to start 1st but V yelled "Hey old woman, Its my turn 1st this time!" all of us busted up laughing. They had so many really good questions that we just answered for an hour! We talked about the change that they have had in their lives and how much more converted they are to the gospel of Jesus Christ. It has been the happiest feeling to see those that you love change their lives and see whats really important. They love the Book Of Mormon. They Love The Gospel. And I know that Heavenly Father is so proud of them. The mission is the best blessing that i could have in my life!
Later that night we went to see Gs Crew. (We weren't really sure what to teach G) She really wanted to be baptized, But because of her living with her boyfriend she couldn't. The next day we were out knocking on doors when a car pulled up to us. It was Gail. We started talking with her and she began to cry.. She told us that her boyfriend had stole her car and took $1,000 and left!?!? Just as she was crying she stopped and smiled and said "But the Lord wants me to look and the good side, Because now I can get Baptized!" Haha! That is so cool that she could see that blessing! We went to see her that night and she said that she knew that God wanted her to Get Baptized and that her and her boyfriend couldn't be living together. " God had told me that he needed to move out, but I didn't really want to make that change right away. So I guess since God saw that I couldn't make that decision on my own that he would make it for me".
We watched Elder Christofferson's talk about where God is the gardener. How He knows what he wants us to be and that he loves us enough to cut us down. So that we can become who he wants. G is planning on Getting baptized on the 16th! There is nothing that we could have done to help G at that time. It's so cool to see how close to this work that God really is. That he answers prays, changes hearts, and solves problems if we will just let him.
On Sunday Elder Galloway and I had to leave sacrament early to drive to Knoxville for Zone Leader Council. On the way up, our mission leader, Bo, called us and said " Do you remember Br? Vs friend?" Ya we know her. "Well She wants to be baptized!"
At church one of the members stood up and said "if any of you are thinking about baptism and are sitting on the fence, Just Do It. That way you can go to the temple one day."
Br Got up and walked to our mission leader after church and told him that she wanted to be baptized!!!
The Lord Prepares his children everywhere, and each of you can be an instrument in His hands! Never be afraid to open your mouths and to share what you know to be true. You will help change others lives.
I love you all so much!
The Gospel is true.

Love Elder Pearson

Hey-oh!!! What did y'all think of General Conference!?!?!

For Missionaries, General Conference is like the world cup, super bowl and the world series, ALL IN ONE!

All the topics seemed to be a little different than usual. Each time they talked about how all the young single men need to get married, and how after missionaries return home their main, and number one focus should be finding an eternal companion. An older lady that sat behind us, stood up, tapped our shoulders and said, "yuns best be taken notes" ;-) hahaha

So looks like a lot of RM's are going to be getting married soon this year.

I really liked the talks by Elder Oaks on Desires, President Utchdorf on personal revelation,( in priesthood session) Elder Bednar's talk on revelation and light was epic Richard G scotts talk about he and his wife was pretty powerful. I loved Elder Lynn G Robbins talk on "To be or not to be" And the difference between BE and DO And I loved the way that Elder Holland taught. When he speaks, He made a truth I knew a reality.

I’m almost outta time. We have to go get a lot of things packed for Elder Jarman.

I love you all a ton! Keep pushin on. The future is as bright as your testimony.

Love Elder Pearson.
